From the outside, it looked like I had it all: a stylish
apartment in Montréal's Plateau district, a house in
the country and a position as vice president of a
growing marketing and communications company
where I oversaw all demographic research, ad copy
and branding decisions, as well as the creation of
client marketing plans.
However, the truth was that I worked 70 hours a
week, my husband barely recognized me and my own
dog was starting to bark at me as I walked through
the door. I remember the exact moment I finally
realized that, despite the Anne Klein and Jones New
York suits, (and as we all know, they can make up
for a lot!) I really wasn't very happy with my life.
After the birth of my daughter Kate, I realized that,
once again, my priorities had shifted. I wanted to be
able to work from home, and choose my hours. It
was time to venture out alone and start my own
business.
After years of doing SWOT reports for other
companies, I did one for myself. It became evident
that a career history I had previously thought of as
diverse suddenly made sense.
