My
interest in Naturopathic Medicine stems from my childhood. My family were strong advocates of proper nutrition, the importance
of exercise, and the power of positive thinking. Based on my upbringing, I knew that I wanted to be a health care professional.
As I was completing my Bachelors of Science degree in Human Kinetics (the study of the human body), I found information on
the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto. From that moment on, I knew that Naturopathic Medicine was the
direction I was meant to follow.
To
become a Naturopathic Doctor in Canada, you need to first have a university degree. Following my bachelor's degree, I studied
an additional four years, full-time at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. This is the only accredited college
in Canada for Naturopathic Medicine. After passing my licensing exams, I began a practice in London, Ontario with 2 other
Naturopathic Doctors and a Chiropractor.
I
have been practicing as a Naturopathic Doctor for four years. Although I maintain a general practice, my special areas of
interest are women and children's health. I focus primarily on nutrition, homeopathy, botanical medicine, as well as, craniosacral
therapy and reflexology. People come to see me for such health concerns as chronic fatigue, digestive problems, aches and
pains, immune system support, fertility concerns, menopausal, and other hormonal symptoms. Examples of pediatric conditions
that I commonly see are related to food sensitivities, eczema, colic, asthma, allergies, learning disabilities, ADHD, colds,
and flues.
Having a naturopathic practice certainly comes with its own unique challenges. Unfortunately

Season's
Greetings Holiday Fair
by
Elizabeth Coleman
Jingle
bells, jingle bells,
jingled all the way to the Holiday Inn. For those who
love to shop!
Last weekend, Montrealers got a head start on their
holiday shopping with the WENS Season's Greetings
Holiday Fair. A first-time event for WENS, it was an
unforgettable shopping experience for people in
search of the unique, the exceptional, and the
handcrafted.
With over 50 booths filled with appealing gift ideas,
the Fair featured the distinctive goods of artisans
and entrepreneurs from all over Montreal. Shoppers
found everything from watercolour paintings to
handmade jewelry, gift baskets, Mexican pewter,
speciality teas, hand knitted scarves, and sugar free
chocolate.
The Fair's beautifully decorated rooms created a glittering

West
Island Women's Shelter
Collection
Drive ~ December 12th 3-6pm
WENS
is collecting toiletry items for the West Island
Women's Shelter throughout the month of December.
We will be hosting a networking event where our
guest speaker Lisa Lockwood, a former police officer,
will be speaking on women's safety techniques in our
homes, on the street, and when using the phone.
She will also share some self defense
tips in the following situations: purse
snatching, parking lot and car, public
transportation, date rape-liquid G and getting pulled
over by an alleged unmarked police car.
We ask that you bring in your toiletry kit to this
event to help the battered women in Montreal.
If you can not attend, please contact Sherry to
make other arrangements.
These women don't even have a toothbrush to call
their own. Their babies need clean diapers. Please
help!
