JENNIFER GASOI
Sparkling Productions |

Jennifer
Gasoi loves jazz, kids, and doing things
outside of the box. Put these elements together and
poof! you get Sparkling Productions, a company
dedicated to producing high quality jazz-based music
and live shows for kids that adults love too!
www.sparklingproductions.com
"Songs for You" is Jennifer's debut album full of
original, upbeat, jazz-based children's songs that
appeal to all ages. The lyrics are clever, the melodies
catchy, and the rhythms undeniably danceable.
Jennifer recently received the 2004 Parent's Choice
Gold Award for excellence in Children's Music.
All the music for the CD was conceived, written,
arranged and produced by Jennifer. She handpicked
each of the 12 musicians that play on the CD and
organized the recording of the album. In order to
help finance the project (and the start-up of
Sparkling Productions) she received a Canada Council
for the Arts Grant, and won the Y.E.S (Youth
Employment Services) Business Plan Writing Award
sponsored by La Fondation de la Maire pour la
Jeunesse.
Jennifer moved to Montreal from Vancouver in June
2002. She had been a successful jazz musician in
Vancouver, performing in the 1999, 2000 and 2001
Vancouver Jazz Festivals, and singing regularly at a
local jazz club with piano legend, Linton Garner.
(Linton worked with Sara Vaughan, Dizzie Gillespie,
Ray Brown, and Miles Davis to name a few).
Although Jennifer was starting to gain a name for
herself in Vancouver, she had the urge to leave the
comforts of her surroundings and explore new
territory. Montreal seemed like the perfect place to
perform, write, and connect with a rich and diverse
group of musicians and artists.
Upon arriving in Montreal, Jennifer's path began to
unfold. She began writing kids' songs. The process
was effortless; the songs were writing themselves!
Jennifer's experience as a musician, coupled with 15
years experience working with children (as a piano
teacher, day camp leader, and music specialist in
daycares) was finally coming together.
Since releasing "Songs for You" in November 2004,
the response to Jennifer's music has been
extraordinary. In January 2004, Jennifer's "Butterfly"
song aired on CBC's Definitely Not the Opera
(DNTO). She received so much fan mail that she will
be part of an upcoming DNTO show featuring artists
that got the most listeners response.
Jennifer is currently working on building a marketing
strategy that will help her promote her CD and live
performances. She continues to write music and
perform in Montreal, and is planning a tour for the
spring of 2005. To find out more about Jennifer, or

Financial
Strategies for Woman The road to fiscal independence
For
many women, managing finances is an
intimidating prospect. But it is also a critical one. To
be able to retire comfortably, sound financial planning
is a must.
In the WENS workshop "Financial strategies for
today's woman", Primerica consultant Sandra Clark
drew on her years of experience to deliver valuable
financial tips and suggestions to the audience. During
the two hour session, participants learned the
importance of retirement savings, how to determine
compound interest, what to think about when
considering mortage rates, and more.
