How
to Find Money You Forgot You Had

Wouldn't you love to find money you had totally
forgotten about or did not even know you were
entitled to? Just think of the pleasant surprise you
get when, out of the blue, you find some money
buried in the pocket of an old coat or at the bottom
of a drawer. It may not be much, but found money,
like a found treasure, has a certain appeal to it.
Found money, however, can be more than a few
dollars and cents. Statistics show that billions of
dollars of unclaimed assets in North America are
sitting idly waiting to be claimed by their rightful
owners. These assets range from lost bank accounts,
to uncollected life insurance benefits, to misplaced
bonds and uncashed dividend cheques, to unclaimed
estate accounts.
In Canada, there were close to 800,000 unclaimed
bank accounts at the beginning of last year worth
about $130 million.
