When Sue-Anne Hickey began practicing yoga in 1990, she knew she had found something she really loved. But what she
didn't know was that, ultimately, it would lead her to a business to call her own and new life path of spirituality, meditation
and vegetarian diet. A turning point in her life came in 1993, after the completion of the International Sivananda Yoga Organization's
teachers training course in Southern India, Sue-Anne embarked on a spiritual journey that took her around the world for one
and a half years. From ashrams in India and meditation retreats in Thailand to Buddhist monasteries in Nepal, Sue-Anne taught
yoga to the many people who wished to learn.
When she returned to Montreal, it was clear that yoga, and the sense of balance that came with it, was a big part
of her life. So, after several years of being a volunteer instructor, in 1998 Sue-Anne launched her business, Illuminart Yoga.
Illuminart Yoga offers classes to people of all ages and all fitness levels in NDG, as well as regular and prenatal
yoga in Pointe-Claire village. Sue-Anne also teaches yoga in the corporate workplace either at lunch or after work and gives
private or semi-private classes in the studio or in the comfort of your own home.
Enabling her students to discover the numerous benefits of yoga makes Sue-Anne feel fortunate. She likes to think
it can make a difference in her students lives. In her classes there is a balance of fun and a quiet space for inward journey.
This inward journey is important to Sue-Anne. With the extensive training she received in India, Sue-Anne tends to focus on
what sets yoga apart from other forms of exercise: the meditative method of leaving the day behind and finding a quiet space
within, away from everyday burdens. It provides some time to reconnect with your body, mind and soul.
One of her students said, "I feel like I am getting a hold of my own energy and learning how to focus better than
ever before. I look forward to a lifelong activity that will help keep me together for the rest of my days."
Sue-Anne teaches two levels of yoga. Level 1 is an ideal class for the absolute beginner and for those who want to
get back to the basics with a gentle yet dynamic class. Level 2 is for students who have previous yoga experience and wish
to enjoy the energy of Sivananda yoga in a group setting.
The first class is free, and there is a 10 % discount for WENS members. For information on any of the group, private
or corporate classes call Sue-Anne at (514) 577-1963, or visit: www.illuminartyoga.com Sue-Anne is a firm believer of networking
and word-of-mouth marketing. She finds that WENS is a perfect opportunity to network with like-minded, dynamic, friendly women.
When the WENS members gather, the enthusiasm is contagious and will leave you feeling inspired and ready to take on the world!
Sue-Anne is proud to be a part of this organization and thinks that becoming a member of WENS is THE way to help your business
grow.

Sherry's
Business Tip on Marketing:
When starting a new business too many people
always focus on what they are going to sell instead
of to whom they plan to sell to. People
believe Kevin Costner when he said If you build it,
they will come! Not true! One of the first steps in
researching your business plan, after the financial
forecast of course is to conduct a market study of
your future clients. What do they need? What
problem can you solve? What do they REALLY want?
Be as focused as possible when determining who your
potential clients might be. The more defined you are
in developing a niche market, the more success you
will have when marketing to them.
Go take on the day!

WENS
Testimonial
By
Myra Sideris CJAD
I would like to take this opportunity to tell you how
pleased I am with WENS. I feel it has made many
positive contributions in my life both on a
professional as well as personal level.
I have met many interesting women and have come
to understand the importance of networking to grow
my business. I also enjoy the monthly breakfasts.
The speakers are always relevant to my home and
business life.
My sales have increased, my networking circle has
widened, and I feel that I am part of something
great. I have always been the type of person that
readily helps those around me, and, now with WENS,
I can help people with referrals.
On a personal level, I have begun an exercise
program which has changed the way I feel about
myself. I have better posture and have even more
confidence in myself and my capabilities.
Thank you for the opportunity to grow.

Women
Entrepreneurs: Leading the Charge
by
CIBC World Markets Inc C/O Jeffrey Alcorn
The number of employed women has been steadily
climbing, and the number of self employed women
has been rising even faster. Over the past 15 years,
the number of female employees rose by 30%, more
than double the pace seen among male employees.
But this impressive growth is dwarfed by the dazzling
50% growth seen among women who were self-
employed1 during the same period.
Whats more, at an average annual growth rate of
3.3% since 1989, the number of women run
businesses is rising 60% faster than those run by
men (Chart 1). Still, at the current count of just
above 800,000, self-employed women constitute only
one-third of the total number of self-employed
Canadians, and men are still more likely to be running
their own businesses across all age groups (Chart 2).
Having said this, if the current pace of growth is
maintained, the number of women-run enterprises will
top the one million mark by the end of the decade.

Preview Topic - The Time of your Life
Why does it seem that nothing is working this week?
My computers acting up, I cant get through to my
clients and my boyfriend doesnt seem to understand
a word Im saying! Sound familiar? Ever get weeks
like that? Perhaps months? Theres a reason why
things seem to go awry, and its not always your
fault. Sometimes circumstances are simply beyond
our control. However, if you understand the nature
of the cycles at hand, you can work around them
and sometime even work with them, to your
advantage.

WENS
Workshop
We're
all uncomfortable with at least one type of person.
Each
one of us has one or two types of people whom
we choose to avoid as much as possible.
Although this may be done in our personal lives, it is
unwise in business. If you own your own business,
can you realistically
afford to say no to 17% or more of your potential
clientele because theres someone you dont like at
first glance or who rubs you the wrong way? Can
you afford to lose business or referrals because of
this personal preference?
LEARN TO RECOGNIZE THE SIX
TYPES Did you know that even very nice
people are considered difficult types by some? Did
you know that some of the toughest people are easy
to read? Did you know that being very organized can
be seen as a blessing or a curse?
Elaine will teach you how to identify the noticeable
and important differences between the six types so
that you can deal with them with greater ease (and
more profitably).
