Susan Mackasey

I founded Par Excellence Business Services, Inc. with my partner Alex Taddeo. Prior to founding the Company with Alex, I held the position of marketing director for the company Condo Selections. My experience has given me the proven capability in building, organizing and managing successful business development strategies.

Par Excellence Business Services, Inc. began out of the realization that many entrepreneurs and business executives often do not know where to start when creating their business plan. Both Alex and I were consulting on a freelance basis. We were regularly inundated with requests for the development of business plans. Thus, the Company was born with this specialty in mind. The two of us had detailed experience in the development of plans and we further honed our skills by consulting with banks and private investors as to the criteria and standards required of a strong business plan.

There have been challenges involved with launching and expanding the Company. Finding highly educated specialists, professional writers and skilled researchers as well as financial analysts is paramount to the success and quality work produced by our Company. As our Company grows we always have to ensure that we can accommodate this growth by having enough skilled staff on hand.  This was a challenge at the onset, but we are fortunate now to have ample staff with the qualifications needed. We have also had many successes. The Company has developed hundreds of successful business plans and related projects to date. We have been in business since 1999 and incorporated in 2002.  We are currently hiring two sales representatives and several more staff members and are prepared to bring our business to the next level.

Over the next several months, we will launch a multi- faceted promotional campaign to enhance the Company's presence in the marketplace.  The Company will create and execute compelling media campaigns that will create awareness of the Company throughout Canada and the U.S.

In the future, the Company plans to give back to the community by contributing to some key charitable organizations to include the Alzheimer's association, the Diabetes foundation and Animal Protection organizations.

Relationship building is of great importance to us and so I was thrilled to learn about WENS.  As networking is such a vital part of the successful growth of a company, I plan to become actively involved, both contributing and learning from the dynamic offerings of this networking system.

The Company currently has a unilingual Website (www.parexcellenceplanning. com) as our initial market has been largely U.S. based. Pricing is currently quoted in USD. We will soon be offering business plans in the French language and will be developing a Canadian based bilingual Website with price listings in Canadian dollars.

Our Mission Statement:

Our mission is to exceed the requirements and expectations of our customers by providing superior value through quality service, innovation, consulting and business planning excellence to large, medium and small businesses alike.

  • Attention business owners! WENS is currently seeking companies who would be interested in supporting our network by becoming a sponsor to help us achieve our goals for 2004. If you or someone you know would be interested in participating in our sponsorship program, please contact Sherry at 450-455-7825 or send an email to sherry@wenscentral.c om

Some of you have expressed an interest in volunteering to help build this network into something great! There are some areas where we could really use some extra help, so that we can grow faster and stronger during the summer months to prepare for the workshops and events that are scheduled for this fall. If any of you are so inclined, please contact us so that we can find solutions on how we can move forward together. Perhaps you could tell us how much time you would have to contribute on a weekly basis and what type of tasks you would like to focus on.

A Special Thanks to Britta Heintzen

I would like to thank Britta Heintzen for the outstanding job she did in documenting the Round Table Discussion. She definitely went above and beyond the call of duty with the work she did composing the detailed and comprehensive notes/minutes of our meeting that was held on May 2nd 2004. She has creatively assembled these notes in a "mind map" format which can be found by clicking on this link http://www.plan4results.co m/WENS/. Don't forget to read the complete summary of the May 3rd meeting minutes by clicking the link below.

  • Winning with a Stacked Deck!
  • "Stacking the deck" usually refers to dishonest card players who arrange the sequence in a deck of cards in order to win a game. Thus, when a deck of cards is "stacked against you" one usually has little chance of winning. When applied to public speaking, in order to "stack the deck" in your favor, you need to remember the basics.

    1. The "Triple S" rule (Stand up, Speak out and Sit down)
    2. The best introduction is your own introduction
    3. Commitment, Commitment, Commitment
    4. Always get personal
    5. Use the golden words "let me tell you a story"
    6. Leave them wanting more.

  • The 'B.i.t.c.h Syndrome'
  • "She's too nice," Connor said as the team evaluated the résumés before them.

"But Catherine is highly skilled and everyone she's ever worked with values her input and expertise," Ryan refuted. "Ya, but she's just too nice. I don't know if she can make the hard decisions that she'll need to make in this position," Connor concluded by turning his attention to the next candidate on the list.

It's no secret that being a woman and having a pleasant demeanor in the workplace can lower that glass ceiling faster than you can say 'Windex'. Being nice, kind, agreeable in business is too often misinterpreted as being weak, a pushover, indecisive. Many business environments still seek out and reward qualities that are regarded as predominantly masculine: assertiveness, ruthlessness, straight talk. Those same business environments are unable to grasp the possibility that a worker, a manager or an entrepreneur of either gender can be both highly assertive and attentive to colleagues and associates (i.e. 'nice').
